The website needs a whole new facelift. I've outrun the usefulness of this
layout and will revamp it completely. Suffice it to say that if you want to
know what's going on then I suggest you read my blog (either here or at the
WordPress.com site -- they're mirrors). The links to the right are still good
(including the photos although they require that you authenticate). I'm going
to work on rebuilding the website from the ground up so bear with me.
Ok...who am I? My name is Ido (pronounced E-dough) Dubrawsky. I live in the Washington, D.C. metro area and I work as a consultant in the network security field. I currently work for Microsoft as their Chief Security Advisor for the Communications Sector in North America. It's a fun job that requires a fair bit of traveling around the country (my customers are spread out all over). I used to work for AT&T as a senior security consultant and before that for Cisco Systems. I did, at one time, start my own consulting business called Silicon Security but I have since let that fall to the wayside. I have a wide variety of interests which I will be adding to this website as well as other information that I'm interested in. These interests range from gardening, solar power, renewable energy, environmental conservation efforts (both small and large scale), cycling and hiking. I still intend to provide some other information (such as links to articles I've written for various magazines and on-line journals) as well as other professional information on this website. For now, however, this will have to do.
I am actively working on a wide range of projects around the house and the community. We have an ~400 sq. ft. garden in the front yard growing everything from tomatoes, zuchinni, herbs, finger eggplants, beans (pole and snap) as well as other vegetables. If you're interested in finding out more about "How the garden grows" you can check out my blog about it at Imladris Gardens. I hope to expand the garden and to add more projects to make it self sufficient such as a drip irrigation system and rain barrels in the near future. Other things I'm involved in are the Freedom Gardens as well as the Silver Spring Solar Collective.
I have a wide variety of hobbies including on- and off-road biking, hiking, wood working, and, of course, computers.
In October of 2007 I participated in the Washington, D.C. Walk For Hope 5K Fun Run on October 7th. 2007. I did this as part of the team "Panina's Cancer Slayers." Panina is a close friend of my family who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has completed her treatment. You may have read the USA Today article that mentions her here. Anyway, I hope that if you read this, then you'll decide to participate in this very worthwhile cause as well. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. City of Hope's Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer is an opportunity for women, their families and friends to come together and demonstrate unity in the face of a disease that takes the lives of those we love. When we walk together, we are strong. Walk for Hope is held in cities across the country to support lifesaving breast cancer research, treatment and education at City of Hope. Register today at www.walk4hope.org.
I'm being constantly asked for copies of my resumes so to solve the problem I am making them available here. This is my current resume in HTML format and in PDF format. The Photos link is for access to some of the photos I've put in the gallery. This is a private area for family members only. Sorry, no exceptions.
This Cascading Style Sheet comes from BlueRobot.com. It was easy to use and I wanted to make sure they get the proper credit for the work. I'm not that good with HTML to be able to come up with this stylesheet.
Also, one last note. The JavaScript that makes the clock noting how much time President George W. Bush (or, as Molly Ivins called him -- "Shrub") has left as President of the United States is not original. It comes from here.
